THE TEACHER5 min read

But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you. John 14:26 AMPC

But when the Father sends the Spirit of Holiness, the One like me who sets you free, he will teach you all things in my name. And he will inspire you to remember every word that I’ve told you. John 14:26 TPT

A couple of points come to mind when you read this verse.

  1. The Holy Spirit
  2. The attributes, capabilities, and capacity of the Holy Spirit.
  3. The Father, who is the sender of the Holy Spirit.
  4. Jesus, who is being represented on earth by the Holy Spirit.
  5. The ability to “Teach all things” resides in the Holy Spirit.
  6. You and I who the Holy Spirit has been sent to.

Now, it is common knowledge that when you refer to someone as “The Teacher”, it simply means that you are referring to the greater expertise of that person in a particular field, subject or endeavour.

Second, when there is a teacher, there is almost always a student that needs to acquire a needed knowledge or skill from the teacher.

Finally, “Trust” is the foundation of the partnership between the teacher and the learner. The learner must be convinced that the teacher possesses the knowledge or ability that they lack, as well as willing and humble enough to allow the teacher to transmit that information to them.

Consequently, for you and I to get the best from our Teacher The Holy Spirit, we must relate with Him based on TRUST. Jesus promised that He (Holy Spirit) will teach you all things, but that is if you allow Him to do so. Do you trust the Holy Spirit enough to give Him complete access to your life and grant the necessary authorization to instruct you in everything? Including the things you believe you are particularly adept at. And most importantly those things you are struggling with and you need urgent assistance with.

Are you willing to Trust the Holy Spirit enough to allow Him to lead you all the way this 2023? Even when that leading of the Holy Spirit is not palatable to you. Will you be willing to heed the Holy Spirit’s guidance even if doing so seems foolish? After all, HE IS THE TEACHER.

Just for a moment, consider being a teacher. How would you react to a pupil who believes already know everything and do not require any further explanation from you? How do you handle a kid who continuously presents himself as smarter than you, the teacher whilst you are aware of how little knowledge he or she actually possesses? How do you interact with a student who consistently seems to disregard the fact that you are the teacher who will choose the test questions and the rules governing the test? You cannot learn from your teacher if you do not believe that he knows better than you do. If you are arrogant and believe you know more than the teacher, you cannot learn.

The Holy Spirit knows All THINGS. He can teach you all you need to know this year about yourself, your spouse, your marriage, your home, and your job. The Lord can teach how to help that difficult child. The Holy Spirit is willing to teach you how to respond to your husband or prepare that exquisite dish so that it turns out properly. The Holy Spirit will be able to guide you on how to react in that trying circumstance. He is interested in every area of your life. All things – even that new terrain you are stepping into that you are a bit agitated about.

The decision lies with you dear reader to listen and do exactly what he tells you to do. Sometimes there is a tendency to think that God doesn’t really know what the situation entails BUT HE REALLY DOES KNOW.

His mother said to the servants, Whatever He says to you, do it. John 2:5 AMPC

What a magnificent blessing as believers in Christ it is for us to have a teacher who is all-knowing and available to us every day of the year in the person of the Holy Spirit! He never takes a holiday or a sabbatical! By submitting to the Holy Spirit and engaging in daily communion with the Holy Spirit, we will be doing ourselves a huge favor. If we just ask for His guidance, the Holy Spirit is always willing and ready to show us the way.

Will you be willing to pray with me on what you just read?

Prayer: Holy Spirit, you are my teacher. You are my Senior partner. You know it all. I journey with you this 2023. Help me to trust you to teach me the way to go this year in Jesus’ name. I am sorry for distrusting you in the past, Lord. I pull down every spirit of pride and unbelief. I surrender all to you dear Spirit of God. I promise to trust your teaching, your plans, and your ideas even if doesn’t resonate well with me. I humble myself before you Lord. Holy Spirit, I trust you to teach me right this 2023. I have not passed this route before but you have dear Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit, teach me all things. Help me to get it right in Jesus’ name. Amen
