When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost. Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten. John 6:12–13 KJV
When they had eaten enough, He said to His disciples, “Gather up the leftover pieces so that nothing will be lost.”
John 6:12 AMP
When everyone was satisfied, Jesus told his disciples, “Now go back and gather up the pieces left over so that nothing will be wasted.” John 6:12 TPT
John 6:1-11 is one of the most amazing provision-related recorded miracles of the Lord Jesus. By the way, all the miracles of the Lord Jesus were amazing 😊.
It is so crucial to note in the passage above that – the Bible indicated that the people that were fed were satisfied, they had eaten enough.
My question to you dear friend is – are you satisfied? Have you eaten enough in the year 2021? And please note that I am not referring to physical food alone.
Were all your needs (not wants) met in 2021? Were your desires and aspirations in God fulfilled in 2021? What about your relationships, jobs, family front, academics, in your prayer life, and relationship with God – were you satisfied. Were you satisfied in terms of your evangelism – souls won to the master, lives discipled? Were your expectations satisfied?
The miracle worker is going around doing good again. If he can multiply five loaves of bread and two fish, his power has not waned. This miracle took only about 10mins – yours may take 10 hours, but it can still happen. So do not give up yet or give in to unbelief. It is not too late yet.
Jesus asked Philip a pertinent question: “Where will we buy enough food to feed all these people?”
Philip answered, “Well, I suppose if we were to give everyone only a snack, it would cost thousands of dollars to buy enough food!” John 6:5, 7 TPT
Be careful what you say or how you answer the Lord when He asks you a question.
Philip’s response was informed by a limiting mindset. He was providing a logical response to a divine question. You recall that God asked Ezekiel a similar question in Ezekiel 37:3 – “Son of man, can these bones live?” When you and I are asked any question by the Lord, it is always important to remember that the Almighty, the maker of the heavens and the earth already knows the answer to such a question. Verse 6 of John 6 exemplifies this:
Now Jesus already knew what he was about to do, but he said this to stretch Philip’s faith.
The Lord Jesus, the Lord of lords, and the King of kings exceeded Philip’s imagination. There was no need for 1000 dollars, Jesus stepped in with a timely miracle. So can he do such for you? I pray for you, that miracle that you need, that provision that you need – the miracle of reduced or canceled spending and expenses, the Lord will do it for you right now for the glory of his name in Jesus’ name.
Can you imagine! The people that needed food were so many. How many are you? Perhaps you are alone or could it be all the members of your family – your number is still far less than these people. In another bible account (Matthew 14:21), the bible indicated that the men were 5000 in number. They did not count women and children. Yet five loaves and two fish were sufficient. Hallelujah!
As Jesus sat down, he looked out and saw the massive crowd of people scrambling up the hill, for they wanted to be near him. So he turned to Philip and said, “Where will we buy enough food to feed all these people?” Now Jesus already knew what he was about to do, but he said this to stretch Philip’s faith. John 6:5–6 TPT
Are you ready to stretch your faith today? That same God you read about it in this passage is here now as you read. I declare by the word of the Lord, that your five loaves and two fish be multiplied right now in Jesus’ name. Amen
You will eat and be full and will return all the glory to the Lord in Jesus’ name.
You will be satisfied in Jesus’ name. You will have plenty to eat – all that you need in every area of your life in Jesus’ name (Divine health, salvation, provision, safety, financial breakthrough, deliverance, Divine assistance, and Divine guidance). Receive that satisfaction that only the miracle of abundance can bring in Jesus’ name. This miracle of multiplication for you can also happen for you in any and every area of your life – your home, career, job, academics, finances, businesses prayer life, evangelism, and studying of the word.
For with God, nothing shall be impossible.
Will you be willing to pray with me on what you just read?
Lord Jesus, I am sorry for ever doubting you. I receive the miracle of satisfaction and abundance that you have allocated to my present situation. If you can multiply five loaves of bread and two fish for thousands of people, what can you not do Father? I trust you absolutely. Thank you, Father. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
