Exodus 14:13-15 NKJV
[13] And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. [14] The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” [15] And the Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward.
“Fear” is a normal human reaction to a frightening situation, especially one beyond our capacity to handle. Fear has been described as “an emotional response triggered by a perceived threat, danger, or harm, whether real or imagined.” Throughout this year, you might have had experiences that made you truly afraid. Perhaps you are even experiencing some situations at the moment. But hold on a minute!
Moses through the inspiration of the Lord announced to the Israelites what was in God’s mind for them. He told them emphatically that they should not be afraid. If you receive an instruction that says -“Do not be afraid”, it actually means that there is a reason to be afraid. There is a legitimate, logical reason to be afraid. In the case of the Israelites, it was the Egyptian army with all their weapons of war, advancing rapidly, fiercely towards them that made them afraid.
The Israelites had reasons to be afraid. What were those reasons?
1. They had been in bondage for more than 400 years (Exodus 12:40-41) and being captured again by the Egyptian army meant that they would be taken back to the bondage they had been delivered from.
2. The process of being recaptured and the journey back to Egypt would likely be with beatings, dragging and killings if need be. There was no need to preserve any life. The main goal was to bring them back to Egypt.
3. Furthermore, the dream of freedom they had so craved for and cultivated over the past few months of Moses’ arrival on the scene was about to be dashed into pieces.
Why are you afraid? Yes Indeed, there may be valid reasons to be afraid, but hold on a minute, see what the bible says:
[13] Then Moses said to the people, ‘Do not be afraid! Be brave! You will see how the Lord will save you today. Look at the Egyptians over there. You will never see them again! Exodus 14:13 EASY
[13] Then Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid! Take your stand [be firm and confident and undismayed] and see the salvation of the Lord which He will accomplish for you today; for those Egyptians whom you have seen today, you will never see again. Exodus 14:13 AMP
[13] But Moses answered, “Don’t be afraid! Don’t run away! Stand where you are and watch the Lord save you today. You will never see these Egyptians again. Exodus 14:13 ERV
Moses said – Do not be afraid but be brave. Fear can elicit both a physical and psychological reaction, which may involve symptoms like an increased heart rate, sweating, or a heightened state of alertness. Fear can also produce anxiety, panic, or a desire to escape the threatening situation. Many times these reactions are not logically thought through reactions or responses and that was why Moses said: Be Brave, Do not run away, Take your stand!
Can you reject that fear? Can you boldly declare that you will not allow that fear to take over your mind, thoughts and actions? If that unwanted situation arises, and fear wants to resurface, instead of entertaining that fear, choose to remain bold in the face of the scary situation. Stand firm, be courageous.
[7] For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7 KJV
[13] But Moses said to the people, “Don’t be afraid. Stand firm and see the Lord’s salvation that he will accomplish for you today; for the Egyptians you see today, you will never see again. Exodus 14:13 CSB
My dear friend, never, never, never underestimate what God can do. Don’t ever think that God is helpless and incapable of bringing that deliverance or providing that much-needed assistance. The Lord is in search of His own people who will stand in faith, stand firm and stand their ground to allow the will of the Lord to be accomplished in their lives, families, friends, relatives, communities and countries.
The Lord will fight for you, and all you have to do is keep still.”Exodus 14:14 GNTD
The Lord will fight for you. You will only have to watch. Exodus 14:14 EASY
Glory to God. Hallelujah!
Don’t run away!
Don’t look for the easy way out!
Don’t be a coward!
Don’t chicken out!
No! We are not of them that draw back!
Stand in faith!
Put out your faith because that is what creates the conducive atmosphere for God to work.
The Lord is working behind the scenes
Just hold on and see what the Lord will do!
PEACE is an offshoot of our utmost dependability in the capability of God. Total rest stems from the confidence that we have in the integrity of God’s word. Entertaining fear is doubt in GOD’S CAPACITY and CAPABILITY to ACT and give you that much-desired VICTORY!
[13] But Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. Exodus 14:13 NLT
DECLARATION! I am not afraid. I stand my ground and I see what the Lord will do to save me from today.
Please remember: It is not what you will or can do. If it is what is in your capacity to do, you may not need to trust God. So as long as it’s out of your hands, the only thing that you can do is to Stand your ground in faith.
Will you be willing to pray about what you just read?
Prayer: Help me Lord to stand my ground in faith until you accomplish what you have started in my life. I rebuke every spirit of fear that wants to blur what the word of God has said concerning me. Thank you dear Father for the rest and peace you have given to me. I receive it by faith in Jesus’ name. Amen
