Currency is the legal means of transacting goods, services, and labour in all spheres of life. Goods and services and labour are exchanged for the currency of that particular country. You can be passing through a country and not be able to carry out the transactions in the country because you lack the relevant currency. I remember, about two years ago, I was in transit to another country via Ethiopian Airlines and we had to stop over in Addis Ababa for a few hours. My six year old daughter was traveling with me, she kept asking me to buy her little things like biscuits which will require me to buy with the local currency. I had to explain to her that although I can see all that she want, they are nice and affordable but I do not have the local currency of Ethiopia, hence we could not could not buy it or have it.
As a believer in Christ and as a child of God, the resources that God has prepared for us in heaven cover every area of our lives, our health, our finances, our family, our spiritual well-being and every area of our lives. Unfortunately, many believers go through the journey of life in lack, in penury and lack of all the good things that heaven has already provided because of lack of access even though the resources belong to them.
(2 Peter 1:3 KJV) According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.
If all things that pertain to life and godliness has been given to us, how then can we can access it? The currency of heaven is not dollars, neither is it Euro or Pound sterling. Money has failed many times with people that have money. They could afford the best hospital in the world but not the cure for a particular sickness or ailment.
The currency that God has provided for us to be able to access all the resources of heaven that is ours is FAITH in the name of Jesus.
(John 14:13-14 KJV) And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
God wants us to receive whatever we ask in the name of Jesus, but for us to ask and receive, we need to ask in faith!
(James 1:5 – 7 KJV) If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord.
What then is faith and how do we access it?
- Faith is the being sure that God will do what He said He will do.
- Faith is the ability to stand on the word of God until you receive the performance.
- Faith is believing God for the reality of His promises in your life.
- Bible definition of Faith – Hebrews 11:1(Amplified version) Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].
Every born again child of God has a measure of faith given to him or her at salvation.
Romans 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
God gives us a measure of faith at salvation, but it is our responsibility to grow and develop this measure of faith. Faith is a divine deposit in our lives at salvation when we accept Jesus as our Lord and saviour. To grow and develop your faith, you need to:
- Use your faith – every divine deposit multiplies with use. The more you use your faith, the more your faith increases. For example, if you use your faith to believe God for a pen or pencil today, and God provided the pen or pencil for you. Wow! your faith soars to believe God for a book tomorrow and when you have the book, you can believe God by faith to provide something bigger next time. The spiritual muscle of your faith keeps stretching and enlarging each time you use your faith by exercising it to believe God for a bigger thing each time. If you believe God to heal a headache today, you can trust Him to heal stomach ache, the next time, your faith keeps growing until you can have faith to heal blind eyes or cancer.
- Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God – Quoting from Romans 10:17, Kenneth E. Hagin often said, “Faith cometh by hearing and hearing and hearing”. After receiving a deposit of faith at salvation, more faith will come as you consciously and deliberately read, study, meditate and digest the word of God. The Holy Ghost quickens and activates the word of God to produce more faith in your spirit as you keep hearing the Word of God every day! You can hear the word of God directly through the Bible or through anointed audio and written messages of genuine men of God. The Word of God is ever potent to produce the same result in your life that it has provided for other people in the past. You need to keep hearing and hearing and hearing the word of God until the spirit of God quickens that word and you receive the revelation of it. You move from the realm of impossibility to the realm of possibility to believe God in faith to do what He says He will do – Mark 9:23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
To access, everything that belongs to you in Christ, you must confront the situation, refuse to be intimidated, confess the word of God and conquer it by releasing your faith concerning the outcome that you are expecting in line with the Word of God.
